I am confronted with the infamous ‘Laufzeitfehler 339’

Dear Forum, following a critical cooling issue, the video card of the Intel Nuc8i7 has failed.

Yesterday, I purchased a Barbone Intel Nuc 12i3 with a new Windows 11 Pro licence.

The first program installed was Windigipet 2021PE. 

Despite several attempts, as administrator, or in safe mode, and with Defender disabled, I am confronted with the infamous 'Laufzeitfehler 339' when starting up in desktop mode or layout mode.

What I have seen only once is a screen saying MDAC2.7 SP1 could not be installd.

There has been a lot written about this on the forum, but it doesn't happen very often. However, the advice and solutions offered have not helped me.

Is there another way to get WDP2021 up and running again, given that the new version of WDP2025 has not yet been announced?

Hello Rupert,

I installed WDP just this week on new Windows 11 Pro machines. No issues on any of these PCs. Alls PCs had of course newest Windows updates installed (we have sometime problems when a new PC seems to have all updates installed, but we needed several additional restarts until they were really okay).

One very important thing: Windwows N Editions are not supported by principle, because they are missing several important components.

It seems on picture 2 you used the Setup.exe from the root directory of the USB-stick. Sometimes especially on fully update Windows 11 machines, this might fail.
Please go to the folder "Installer\Setup deutsch" on the stick. There is also an Setup.exe. Right click on it and select "Run as administrator" (even if you use an admin account). And during the setup process do always select "Install for all users" (not just for me), unfortunatly the Windows Installer gives us no opportunity to remove this stupid selection.

Thank you for your quick reply. I didn't know that Windigipet2021PE have a problem with the windows 11 N version.
I specifically chose this Windows 11 N version for the model railway .

Given that Windows 11 Pro N is subject to European Commission regulations and does not include media-related technologies such as Windows Media Player, Movies & TV, Groove Music, Skype and Voice Recorder.
So I wanted to avoid this kind of extra clutter from Microsoft. 

I'll see if it works with the other installation method.
But I suspect that this is futile.

Then the only solution is to delete everything on the SDD memory and install another version of Windows 11.
Which version of Windows 11 came out well in your tests? 

I hope that Windigipet 2025 will follow the recommendations of the
European Commission regulations more closely and that I can return to the N version.

Hello Rupert,

Win-Digipet or some of the supplied third-party components require the multimedia features that are missing in the N editions.
It may also be sufficient to install the Media Future Pack for Windows N from Microsoft before installing Win-Digipet:

However, we have not tested this and cannot provide any further information. We do only test the Windows 11 editions without the additional N: Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Home.

This requirement will not change with version 2025, because otherwise we would have to remove a whole range of functions.

And with regard to the EU regulations, which I won't discuss at length here. They are aimed at Microsoft and co. to prevent competitive advantages by bundling software components in operating systems etc..
Win-Digipet is not part of Microsoft or any other operating system manufacturer, nor do we produce an operating system. In addition, even the EU only allows Microsoft to offer a version without Windows Media Player or other related technologies, but Microsoft is still allowed to sell them with these components in the EU. And Win-Digipet continues to require the presence of these components.

Thank you for this clear explanation.

I added the Media Future Pack to Windows 11 N .
And, as I suspected, it did not work.

I performed a clean install of Windows 11 Pro and then installed WDP2021PE using the method you described in your first comment.

Would it be a good idea to post a message on the forum stating that Windows 11 Pro- N  is not compatible with Windigipet due to missing elements in this OS version from Microsoft?
 
Most important: WDP2021  is running again.
