Hello.

Is there a way to use profiles when running a Train With "Switch and drive" ?
The Train starts to run before all turnouts have been set.  De-railment.....  Not so Nice.  With profiles, I can insert delays..

Per.

Hello Per,

Of course you can use profiles with Swich + Drive. Just select the according profile radio button in the Switch+Drive dialog.

But if your turnouts switch to slow:
Set in the position monitoring within the solenoid device configuration dialog in the track diagram (right part of window second option) a value in msec for "End position reached after". This will delay the train start until the time is over for all turnouts.

Hello Markus.

I am sorry, I think it was somewhere in the Navigator, the pre-selected profile was "Standard", and I could not change the profile to 1, 2 or 3, they were grey..  Will try again..

OK about the delay.  So I have to calculate the value(s) to be long enough so that all turnouts have been switched when the Train starts to move?  My turnouts are not slow, but when there are several turnouts to switch, the Train has started to move before all turnouts are set.

Hello Per,

no, you just set the switching time for each turnout. WDP does the math for you.

Hi.

Well, I do not need a longer switching time for each turnout, as such.  It is only when starting a route with several turnouts, that all turnouts haven't finished to set before the train starts.  It seems all turnouts are set in sequence, and in some cases this takes too long, so the train has started to move before every turnout has been set...

Hello Per,

that's exactly the problem. When WDP switches some turnouts in one route there's always a delay between the switching commands. So not all turnouts are set at the same time. This is because either the central stations and/or the decoders are not able to process more than one command at the same time. So you have a little gap between each command. We are talking about milliseconds but if you have several turnouts to be switched this sums up. Therefore our proposal to enter a switching time at each turnout. A value between 500 and 1000 ms per turnout should be sufficient. Let's say your central station/decoder needs 500 ms between each command and you set the delay to 500ms and you have 6 turnouts. Then it takes 3 seconds until the last turnout switched and WDP will also wait 3 seconds before the loco starts to run.

Alternatively you can set the delay time in the signal where the loco waits. Set it to e.g. 3 seconds. The signal will switch to green and the loco starts running after. 3 seconds. I do this in my station it looks nice.
Viele Grüße,
Stefan

Hi Per

The problem of greyed profile can belong to "Using profile setting" into system setting panel, but i do not think this is your case otherwise you cannot enter profile editor.
Probably you have redefined your route without changing the connected profile, each profile is linked to the route-id and if you delete and redefine the route the id will change and the previous link remains dangling.

Hello Stefan!

I tried Your suggestion With 3000msec, in fact I put in 10000msec just to see how it Works.  But it did not...  The Train started too soon anyway (as soon as before), and de-railed.  I used "Switch and drive" using Route Navigator.  The delay was NOT added, the Train started as before....  Any idea?

Hi again.

It did not work With the signal, but seems to work With the turnout.  Maybe it is because I tried With a VIRTUAL signal ?  Does it not work then ?

Hi again.

I tried again.  It Works With "normal" signal With an adress, but not With a signal defined as a Virtual Solenoid Device.  Is this correct?

Best regards,
Per.

Hi Per,

That's correct. It is for real delays of real turnouts and signals.
